Arthur's Tennis Philosophy: Arthur's overall philosophy of his tennis programs is to develop sound techniques and instill the confidence, motivation and discipline it takes to reach a high level of tennis competition. He believes that through an aggressive and demanding program, excellence can be achieved where attitude and hard work are the main ingredients.

Did you know? Arthur was as an all state basketball player in South Carolina. Judge Extreme Akim on the TV show "Eye for an Eye" is his brother. Both of Arthur's brothers and one of his sisters all went to college on full tennis scholarships. He has a terrific wife and two tennis playing sons.

Arthur's Bio: Portofino's tennis program is led by former touring pro Arthur Anastopoulo. Born and raised in Charleston, S.C., Anastopoulo won numerous national, and state championships both as a junior and adult player. He played number 1 in singles and doubles at the University of South Carolina and was selected as only two NCAA Division 1 tennis All Americans to ever come out of the state of South Carolina . He has been honored with the key to the City of Charleston, Pro of the Year in South Carolina, and chosen as one of the top 25 directors in the nation by Reebok Sporting Goods.

During his career on the pro tennis tour, Anastopoulo represented Greece's Davis Cup tennis team as it's No. 1 player. He has played exhibition matches with Andre Agassi, Ivan Lendl, Martina Navratilova, Jennifer Capriati, Stan Smith, John Newcome, John McEnroe and Vitas Gerulaitis.

Throughout his years of teaching, he has developed 57 individual state champions, 125 sectional champions and five national champions. During his tenure, 97 junior players have gone on to receive tennis scholarships. He is an active member of the USPTA and PTR teaching associations.

Most recently, Anastopoulo was inducted into the (AHEPA) Hellenic Athletic Hall of Fame, class of 2011, along with the likes of Pete Sampras and Bob Costas.
