Bruce's Tennis Philosophy: Two of the biggest things that I emphasize are, not over-thinking your strokes and, as Churchill said, never, ever give up.
Did you know? Of all the public and private tennis clubs in the state, Roger Scott received the USTA honor of being named the 2007 Florida Tennis Facility of the Year under the fantastic direction of Bruce!
You might know that Bruce learned to play this wonderful sport with a heavy wooden racquet at Bayview Park back in the day before there was an organized juniors program. You might know that his dad was the captain of the tennis team at Duke University and that both of his brothers were also collegiate players. You might know that although Bruce describes his early relationship with tennis as "an on again off again love affair," he persevered to become a highly accomplished traveling junior from the ages of 13-18. Maybe you've heard of the many students he's coached into successful college careers, and even about the many contributions he makes to our community outside of the tennis world. But did you know that he calls his mom a "patient saint" and credits her for his extremely encouraging on-court teaching temperament? Did you know that he LOVES everything about the sport of doubles tennis both playing and teaching? Bruce's loves for doubles is what enables him to obtain such great satisfaction from coaching ladies league teams - and watching them progress as they learn and improve.
Well, now you know! Although... maybe the reasons why aren't as important as the fact that his reputation as the most patient and encouraging pro in town holds true...and this is what makes Bruce Caton an ideal choice of pros for the adult beginner.

QuickStart...There's a revolution going on - a quiet revolution, to be sure, but one that will, hopefully, permanently change the way most children are introduced to tennis in the United States. ... That revolution is called QuickStart..." - A terrific article by Bruce and reprinted courtesy of FIRST SERVE magazine.
