Coaching Specialties:"I'm able to work with players of all ages and abilities and can come up with an individualized lesson plan to accommodate various skill levels. I enjoy rising up to the challenge of improving an already established player but also like watching a newcomer to the game improve and become proud of their progression. As far as my teaching credibility I draw on my past experiences as a competitive player for my lessons but I stay current with the newest techniques, books on tennis and sports nutrition, watching the pro players and picking and choosing useful tips, using multimedia and the internet as tools and through my own discovery as a 4.5 player who plays every chance he gets as I try to move on to the 5.0 level." Rodrigo's Best Shot: Serve and forehand
Rodrigo's favorite shot to teach: topspin forehand and backhand
Rodrigo's Tennis Philosophy:"Since my graduation from UWF and from studying exercise science, I've learned how to design a specialized exercise plan or 'test battery' that can address specific goals for your preseason, off season, in season, etc and can add in a nutrition/meal plan too so that your recover well and can benefit from proper nutrition and a from having reachable, recordable goals to go after. Anaerobic training i.e. weight training helps out big time in tennis and can improve your overall performance in terms of speed, agility, power and can noticeably assist you to adapt to tennis's quick, stop and go, change of direction nature.
Most points in tennis only last a couple of rallies and seconds so while long distance running is good for your heart health, sprint drills would benefit more in terms of your game. Bicep curls are great but you should incorporate full range of motion exercises that mimic the game that you play. That's the kind of information I can bring to the table and I thoroughly enjoy coming up with individualized meal/workout plans with specific time frames for people so that if they stick to the plan, results will come.
If you just want a good ole tennis lesson I can do that but if you're interested in peak performance, nutrition/weight lifting and in that aspect, I'll work hard to come up with a plan that fits you, free of charge.
Most importantly, I love to see improvement and the fun that comes with watching a player progress and enjoying this beautiful game. I bring a professional, friendly, easy to approach attitude and look forward to who I can instruct next!"
